Service Manager/Lead Technician

Job Description Job Purpose:

Lead Sailtech’s Service Department. Solicit and capture service work orders for maximum profitability; Manage department resources for maximum efficiency; Provide technical expertise and training for enhanced departmental productivity. Assess customer electronics needs and promote appropriate manufacturer’s equipment applicable for the vessel’s size and capability. Coordinate service scheduling with customers. Ensure appropriate inventory controls and safety procedures are maintained. Prepare service productivity reports as needed.

Essential Duties:

• Provide strong, effective leadership of the service department; Ensure external technicians who handle assignments alone at a customer’s site are prepared to work without close supervision;

• Sell marine electronics installations and/or repairs to boat brokers, boat show customers, walk-in customers and/or other prospective customers with enthusiasm and confidence. Effective interpersonal communications skills required.

• Confer with customers, prepare work orders, examine instruments needing repair in order to determine the nature and extent of damage;

• Research supply costs, provide repair and new installation estimates, coordinate with manufacturers, package equipment for factory repairs, prepare claim forms, monthly reports, collect payments and/or payment authorizations from customers for repairs completed;

• Examine or test operation of parts or systems that have been repaired to ensure completeness of repairs;

• Test, adjust and troubleshoot equipment components, PCBs, sub-assemblies, and antennas on board vessels and in the shop;

• Perform installations & troubleshooting on marine vessels and RV's as needed;

• Load, update, and modify software on-board customer vessels. Sailtech offers vacation days, paid holidays, and purchase discounts. Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

• FCC Licensed with Radar endorsement • CMET certified • Must own and use personal tools • Must possess a clean driving record • Must not be afraid of heights • Must not be color-blind • Must have management experience – 2 years or more • Must have supervisory experience – 2 years or more • Networking and time management skills desirable • Must keep abreast of the latest equipment available and know how to install and repair it

Knowledge Required:

• Must possess marine electronics technical experience and expertise • Customer and Personal Service • Technical and Electrical (AC/DC and 12 volt) • Must be computer literate
