Marine Electronics Field Service Engineer
Successful candidate will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, testing, and the repairing, of communications and navigation equipments installed in ships.
Experience with High-Seas radar, Echosounders, GPS Receivers; VHF, MF/HF, and satellite communications equipment; gyro compass systems; computer systems; and all associated ancillary systems desired.
AS degree or equivalent training (formal training in electronics theory required) and experience in Electronics Technology required as a minimum. Must have valid passport, driver’s license, and a vehicle for use on the job. Must also have (or obtain within 3 months of employment) a FCC License w/radar endorsement. Must speak fluent English and have authorization to work in the U.S.
Job requires frequent travel, both domestic and international, sometimes with very little advance notice. Job is sometimes very demanding physically, requiring working in cramped spaces or on ship’s masts. Frequent overtime required.
Successful candidate also must pass rigorous background checks as required by the TSA and the port security authorities for access to the ports.
